At Holidaypac, we always strive to deliver packaging solutions that meet both functional and aesthetic requirements. In this case study, we’ll explore how we engineered a 7mm corrugated display structure using precise CNC half-cut technology, ensuring quality, efficiency, and durability in our final product.

When it comes to corrugated displays, precision is crucial. Traditional cutting methods often lead to issues like uneven edges or insufficient durability, especially when displays need to hold heavier items in a retail environment. Our goal was to overcome these challenges and deliver a structure that’s both strong and visually appealing, without compromising on cost-effectiveness.

To solve this, we turned to CNC (Computer Numerical Control) half-cut technology. This method allows for highly precise cuts, which are vital when dealing with the intricate designs required for displays. CNC technology is especially effective because it can create detailed cuts with minimal error, ensuring that the structure fits perfectly and stands the test of time.
The 7mm thickness of the corrugated board was selected to strike a balance between strength and flexibility. Thinner boards would risk bending under weight, while thicker boards would increase material costs unnecessarily.

Using specialized design software, we created a custom layout for the display. We aimed for a clean, simple design that would support the intended product while also making it easy for consumers to interact with. The CNC half-cutting process requires that every detail in the design be accounted for, as each cut needs to be as precise as possible to ensure the display can be assembled seamlessly.
The 7mm corrugated cardboard was chosen for its durability and lightweight properties. We also considered its environmental impact and ensured it met industry standards, including FSC certification, to guarantee responsible sourcing of materials.
The core of the innovation in this display is the use of CNC half-cutting. Rather than cutting all the way through the cardboard, the CNC machine only cuts partially, leaving the material intact where needed for structural integrity. This technique is critical for creating folds and flaps that hold the display together without the need for glue or additional supports.
Once the display design was finalized, prototypes were created to test the structural integrity and appearance of the display. The half-cut technology ensures that the cuts are accurate, meaning the display doesn’t need additional modifications after cutting, reducing production time and cost.
After cutting, each display structure was folded into its final form. The design allows for easy assembly, making it ideal for use in retail environments where quick setup is crucial. Packaging for shipment was also optimized to minimize space, which helped reduce transportation costs.

By using CNC half-cutting technology, we were able to provide a more durable, cost-effective, and aesthetically pleasing display structure. Our clients have reported increased satisfaction with the quality and reliability of the displays, and the efficiency of the production process has resulted in quicker turnaround times for orders.
This project demonstrates the power of advanced technology in creating high-quality, eco-friendly packaging solutions. It not only meets the technical demands of display engineering but also aligns with our commitment to sustainability and innovation.
The 7mm corrugated display structure, created with precise CNC half-cut technology, is a prime example of how modern manufacturing techniques can solve longstanding challenges in packaging design. By focusing on precision, material selection, and efficiency, we delivered a solution that not only meets but exceeds expectations.
